Headaches & Migraines

Acupuncture is an extremely effective way to treat multiple types of headaches and migraines, especially when in conjunction with Chinese herbs, teas, supplements, and lifestyle modification.

Getting to the root cause of your headaches/migraines

One of the most important steps to overcoming headaches is determining what type of headaches you are suffering from. In your initial consultation, we will go through your history and determine whether the root cause of your headaches is stress, hormone imbalance, neck and shoulder tension, nerve entrapment, poor diet, muscle spasms or even chronic scar tissue.

Individualized Treatment

One of the many gifts Chinese medicine offers is the ability to provide a very specific diagnosis as to type of headache or migraine a patients suffers from. This enables us to provide the patient with a very individualized course of treatment. The root cause will inform what type of treatment will be most effective for your particular situation. This may include acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga, acupressure and Chinese herbs.

Whether you are coming in for an acute attack of migraine/headache, or you’re coming in for the prevention of headaches, acupuncture is very effective. We have seen within a course of treatment, patients will see a decrease in intensity, duration, and frequency. The length of a course of treatment will be determined by how long you have been suffering and what type of headache or migraine you’re coming in for.
